Teach for America Math and Science Initiative

With nearly three decades of experience in sports entertainment, Charles Besser directs the development, production, and programming of television content at Intersport, Inc. Over the course of his career, Charles Besser has developed programming for all the major networks and produced hundreds of events each year. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Charlie Besser actively supports a number of charitable and civic organizations, including the Special Olympics, YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, and Teach for America, for which he serves on the board of directors.

In an effort to bring American children up to the standards of their peers around the world in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), Teach for America launched a math and science initiative. This initiative improves the methods for teaching science and math in schools, recruits STEM corps members and teachers for the next decade, and develops programs that support STEM teachers in their efforts.

Established in 1990, Teach for America consists of recent college graduates who teach as “corps members” for two years in public schools in urban and rural areas. The organization devotes time and resources to abolishing education inequality.
